Chad [Lake] - Chad

Japanese: チャド[湖] - チャド
Chad [Lake] - Chad
A lake in the southern edge of the Sahara Desert in Africa, on the border between Chad, Niger, Cameroon, and Nigeria. The Chari River flows into the lake from the south. Its area is 10,000 to 20,000 km2 depending on the season. The average depth is said to be 8m, but the water level changes greatly depending on the season. It is getting shallower every year, and the shores are becoming marshy. It is rich in fish. It was once a caravan route for trans-Saharan trade, and was a key location in central Sudan where the Kanem-Bornu Empire flourished on the lakeside.
