Chatham
Medway is the administrative capital of the southeast of England, United Kingdom. It is a river port city located about 45km southeast of London, facing the lower reaches of the Medway River, which flows into the estuary of the Thames. The town developed around the Royal Navy Dockyard, founded by Henry VIII, which closed in 1984 and is preserved as a historical building. The literary giant Charles J.H. Dickens lived in Chatham from 1817 to 1821 because his father was a clerk in the Navy Accountant's Office, and wrote his autobiographical masterpiece, David Copperfield (1849-50), which is set in the town. Population: 73,468 (2001).

A city in southern Ontario, Canada. It is located 65 km east of Detroit. It is at the end of the navigational route of the Thames River, which flows into Lake St. Clair. The average temperature in January is -4°C, and in July is 21°C, which is mild for Canada. It was first settled in 1800 and was named after Chatham, England. During the Civil War, it became a place to receive exiled black slaves. It is a processing center for the surrounding agricultural products, and sugar beet refining, canning, tobacco, meat product manufacturing, and light metals are carried out. Population 43,557 (1991).

The town is known for its pulp and paper mills, foundries, shipyards, and as a shipping port for timber and salmon to Europe. It is also home to a Royal Canadian Air Force base. Population 6,544 (1991).
