1767‐1829 King of the Laotian Kingdom of Vientiane. Reigned 1804-29. Third son of King Siriboonnhasan. In his youth, he served the Thai king and fought in the war against Burma. In 1804, he became king of Vientiane and paid tribute to both Thailand and Vietnam. He put down the civil war in the Kingdom of Champasak in southern Laos and made its prince, Yo, king of Champasak. When he attended the funeral of Thai King Rama II in 1825, he asked the new king, Rama III, to return the people and Laotian royal family who had been taken from Vientiane, but was refused.
