Tea Song - Chaondo

Japanese:
Tea Song - Chaondo

The title of a Jiuta (Chinese folk song) and Sokyo (Japanese harp music). It is also called "Cha no Yu Ondo (Chan's Song)". It is originally a song of the Ikuta school, but is also performed in the Yamada school. It was composed in the early Meiji period by Kikuoka Kengyo. Later, Yaezaki Kengyo added a koto-like hand. There is a Jiuta song called "Onna Temae" (Onna Temae) that was composed for the Ise Ondo with lyrics by the haiku poet Yokoi Yayu, and this song was arranged and set to a different tune. It is a song about the relationship between a man and a woman, making reference to the tools used in the tea ceremony and the names of tea rooms. The shamisen is tuned in an unusual roku-sagari (roku-sagari) style, but the distinctive tune is only apparent at the end of the tegoto (techo). In the after song, the shamisen is tuned in san-sagari (three-sagari) style.
