Aiiku Foundation is an organization that aims to promote the health and welfare of children and mothers, and its predecessor was the Imperial Gift Foundation Aiikukai, which was established in 1934 with a grant from the Emperor to commemorate the birth of the Crown Prince. In 1963, Aiiku Research Institute was established as a comprehensive research institute, and Aiiku Hospital, Aiiku Kindergarten, Aiiku Special Needs School, and other affiliated research facilities were established. Since its founding, Aiiku Villages have been designated in farming, mountain, and fishing villages, and Aiiku Group activities have been carried out by women who volunteer to take care of both the physical and mental health and welfare of mothers and children, playing a major role in spreading the idea of child-rearing.
