Chauhan Dynasty - Chauhan

Japanese: チャウハン朝 - チャウハンちょう（英語表記）Chauhan

A dynasty in the Rajasthan region of India, counted among the Rajput dynasties. Also known as the Chāhamāna dynasty. It arose in the Jaipur region in the 9th century, and after the fall of the Pratihara dynasty, it conquered the Ajmer region and became powerful. In the late 12th century, it advanced into the Delhi region, and Prithvīraj (reigned 1177-92) prevented an invasion by the Ghorid dynasty, but was defeated and killed in the Battle of Tala-in (Talaori) in 1192, effectively destroying the dynasty. This marked the beginning of the conquest of India by Muslim armies.

インドのラージャスターン地方の王朝で，ラージプートの王朝の一つに数えられる。チャーハマーナChāhamāna朝ともいう。9世紀にジャイプル地方に興り，プラティーハーラ朝衰滅後アジュメール地方を征服して有力になった。12世紀後半デリー地方に進出して，プリトビーラージ(在位1177‐92)はゴール朝の侵攻を防いだが，1192年タラーイン(タラーオリー)の戦で敗死し，王朝は事実上滅びた。これがムスリム(イスラム教徒)軍隊のインド征服の端緒となった。
