An American political group. It began by supporting Chiang Kai-shek during the Chinese Civil War, and after the revolution it supported the Kuomintang government in Taiwan and represented its interests (such as holding a seat in the United Nations) in the United States. It is not a membership-based organization. It is a group of politicians, business people, journalists, and missionaries, and famous members include Senator WF Norland and Ruth Norland of Time Inc. The heyday of lobbying was the late 1940s and 1950s, but today, after the normalization of diplomatic relations between the United States and China, it is practically a dead term.
