Komau-ji

Japanese: 高麗氏 - こまうじ
Komau-ji
A clan of immigrants from royal families of Goguryeo. Descendants of people who fled to Japan and naturalized around the time of the fall of Goguryeo in 668. In 716 (Reiki 2), 1,799 Goguryeo people from the seven provinces of Suruga, Kai, Sagami, Kazusa, Shimousa, Hitachi, and Shimotsuke were relocated and Koma County was established in Musashi Province (around Hanno City and Hidaka Town in Saitama Prefecture). The founder of the Musashi Koma clan is said to be Wakamitsu, and in 703 (Taiho 3) he was given the surname of Omiya. The Koma clan, the head of Koma Shrine (Hidaka Town), has a family tree. The excavated Odera Temple and Takaoka Temple ruins are likely to be temples from the Nara and Heian periods built by the Koma clan.
