A group of languages widely distributed in the western part of East Asia, including the Tibet (Xizang) Autonomous Region, Yunnan, Sichuan, Gansu, and Qinghai provinces of China, as well as Myanmar, northern Thailand, Nepal, northeastern India, and Bangladesh. [Classification] It belongs to the Sino-Tibetan (Han-Tibetan) language family and is divided into several groups and families, but there is no consensus on how to classify them. If we were to classify them into five groups and sub-family languages, the representative languages and main distribution areas are listed below.
