Japanese: 千早赤阪[村] - ちはやあかさか

A village in Minamikawachi District, southeastern Osaka Prefecture. It is located in the upper reaches of the Chihaya River, and the Kongo Mountains to the east form the border with Nara Prefecture. Most of the area is covered by forests, and forestry is practiced there. The warm climate also allows the cultivation of mandarin oranges. It is known as the birthplace of Kusunoki Masashige, a famous military commander during the Nanboku-cho period. Historic sites related to him include the ruins of Akasaka Castle, a flatland castle, in the north, and the ruins of Chihaya Castle, a full-scale mountain castle, in the south. The Kusunoki Festival is held every April. Blessed with abundant nature, Mount Katsuragi and Mount Kongo are ideal places for easy mountain walking near Osaka, and attract hikers. Mount Kongo is connected to a ropeway from the foot of the mountain. National Route 309 runs through the area, connecting it to Tondabayashi City in the west and Gose City via the Mizukoshi Tunnel through the Kongo Mountains in the east. 37.30 km ² . 6,015 people (2010).

大阪府南東端，南河内郡の村。千早川の上流域にあたり，東の金剛山地は奈良県との境をなす。山林が大半を占め林業が行われるほか，温暖な気候を利用してミカンも産する。南北朝時代の武将として名高い楠木正成生誕の地として知られ，ゆかりの史跡として北部には平山城の赤坂城跡，南部には本格的山城の千早城跡が残り，毎年４月には楠公祭も行われる。豊かな自然に恵まれ，葛城山や金剛山は大阪近郊の手軽な山歩きの好適地としてハイカーを集めており，このうち金剛山へは麓からロープウェイが通じる。国道309号が通じ，西は富田林市へ，東は金剛山地を水越トンネルで穿ち御所市へ至る。37.30km²。6015人（2010）。
