Eryuji Temple Kannon Hall - Eryuji Temple Kannon Hall

Japanese: 恵隆寺観音堂 - えりゅうじかんのんどう
Eryuji Temple Kannon Hall - Eryuji Temple Kannon Hall

...A large district in Aizubange Town, Kawanuma County, Fukushima Prefecture. It is home to the Tachiki Kannon Hall (Eryuji Kannon Hall, Important Cultural Property), which is said to have been founded in the Kenkyu era (1190-99) and has the Tachiki Kannon (Thousand-Armed Kannon, Important Cultural Property) as its principal image, and Toji Hachiman Shrine (Kokoro Shimizu Hachiman Shrine), which houses the Toji Hachiman Shrine Chocho (Important Cultural Property). The Chocho contains an article about a murder of a pilgrim in front of the shrine, and the area appears to be "Toji-cho" or "machi-tera-naka." Furthermore, in 1590 (Tensho 18), Date Masamune decided that the number of jinin (shrine attendants) at Toji would remain at 26, suggesting that the area around the Hachiman Shrine and the Kannon Hall was prosperous.
