A fish of the Gobiidae family of the Perciformes order. It is widely distributed from southern Hokkaido to Okinawa, and has local names such as Gori in Kochi, Dabohaze in Tokyo, and Kurogoro in Lake Kasumigaura. It inhabits brackish to freshwater areas. Its overall body is dark brown with small pale white dots scattered on its cheeks. There is a prominent white horizontal line at the base of the pectoral fin. The six spines on the first dorsal fin extend like threads. During the spawning season, its overall color becomes vivid. The spawning season is February to March in Tosa, and May to August in Lake Kasumigaura. The eggs are adhesive, pear-shaped, with a major axis of 1.2 to 1.4 mm and a minor axis of 0.65 to 0.75 mm.

スズキ目ハゼ科の魚。北海道南部から沖縄にかけて広く分布し，高知でゴリ，東京でダボハゼ，霞ヶ浦でクロゴロなどの地方名がある。汽水域から淡水域にかけて生息する。全体に暗褐色でほおの部分には淡白色の小点が散在する。胸びれの基部に白い横線が目だつ。第1背びれの6本の棘（きよく）は糸状にのびる。産卵期には全体の色彩が鮮やかになる。産卵期は土佐で2～3月，霞ヶ浦で5～8月である。卵は粘着卵で長径1.2～1.4mm，短径0.65～0.75mmでセイヨウナシ型をしている。
