Ise Sadamune

Japanese:
Ise Sadamune
Year of death: October 28, 1509 (December 9, 1509)
Year of birth: Bun'an 1 (1444)
A shogunate official in the Muromachi and Sengoku periods. Son of Sadachika. Ranked Shichiro, Hyogo no Kami, Bitchu no Kami, and Ise no Kami. Junior Fourth Rank, Lower. Buddhist name Tsuneyasu. After his father was overthrown in the Bunsho Coup (1466), he succeeded the family and became the steward of the government in 1471. At the time, the finances of the shogunate and the Shogun's household property were controlled by Ashikaga Yoshimasa's wife, Hino Tomiko, so Sadamune had little authority, but as was customary, he was put in charge of raising the heir, Yoshihisa, and after Yoshihisa came of age, his influence gradually expanded. Even after handing over the stewardship to his son Sadamitsu in 1490, he continued to wield hidden influence as Yoshihisa's guardian, and in September 1493, he cooperated with Tomiko, Hosokawa Masamoto, and others to dismantle the Yamashiro Province uprising, paving the way for the despotic rule of Masamoto's government.
