He wrote, directed, and starred in five full-length comedies. His second film, My Uncle's Holiday (1952), and subsequent films featured the protagonist Monsieur Hulot, a tall, vagabond man in short trousers, a pipe and an umbrella, and his associates performing "elegant" sight gags that were not as intense as Spastic's.
