A variety of animal, plant and geometric patterns are dyed in indigo and brown onto cotton or silk. It is said to have been introduced from India, and developed under the influence of Islamic culture, China and Europe. Patterns and colors vary by region, and it is used for traditional clothing such as shawls, loincloths and hoods, and is now also used for Western clothing. → Batik → Related topics Sarong (clothing) | Yogyakarta | Cirebon Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
