A city in the mid-west of Fukuoka Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1972. The central part is an isthmus between the Sefuri Mountains and the Mikuni Mountains, and the central settlement of Futsukaichi is located here, and is served by the Kagoshima-Chikuho Main Line, the Nishitetsu Tenjin-Omuta Line, the Kyushu Expressway, and National Route 3. It is increasingly becoming a commuter town for Fukuoka City. In recent years, construction of the Ogori-Chikushino New Town, which straddles Ogori City, has been progressing. It is home to Futsukaichi Onsen. Rural areas produce rice, wheat, green onions, broccoli, ginger, and other crops. 87.73 ^km2 . Population 101,720 (2010).
