Ichikawa Somegoro (first generation)

…(4) 4th generation (1737-1802 | Genbun 2-Kyowa 2) Stage name: Koma-ya. In 1744 (Enkyo 1), he entered the Edo Ichimura-za and changed his name to Segawa Kingo, and in 1754 (Horeki 4), he changed his name to Segawa Kinji. In 1757, he became a disciple of the 4th Danjuro and became Ichikawa Takejuro, in 1863 he became Ichikawa Somegoro, and in the same year he again changed his name to Ichikawa Komazo, and in 1872 (An'ei 1), at the age of 36, he took his master's previous name and became Koshiro. He was known for his roles in sex and sakugoto, and excelled in both peaceful and practical roles with actors such as Soga Juro, Fujiya Izaemon, Banzuiin Chobei, and Kinukawa Tanizo, and in his later years he also played evil roles. …
