…A philanthropic organization founded in England in the early 18th century and has since spread throughout the world. It is also simply called Mason. Currently, there are 32,370 lodges (chapters) and 6,155,000 members (according to a survey by the Brockhouse Encyclopedia in 1966). It is not a secret society, but since the initiation ceremony is not open to the public, it is difficult for outsiders to grasp the whole picture. It aims to realize philanthropy, freedom, and equality on a global level, and rejects political totalitarianism, exclusivism, and fanaticism. Members call each other "brothers" and take an oath on the Bible at the initiation ceremony, so it is not fundamentally opposed to Christianity, but it has a deistic tendency, calling God "the Supreme Architect of the whole world." …
