It is located on a low plateau at an altitude of 195m and a slope of 60m at the southernmost tip of the Ashio Mountains. It was known as a site containing Jomon pottery, but as a result of three excavations in 1964 and 1965, a total of 37 pits with a diameter of about 1m were discovered in an area of 34m square, and it is estimated that the number of pits exceeds 40 if unexcavated areas are included.
