A mutual aid organization for miners. It was established in the mid-Edo period against the backdrop of a life exposed to occupational diseases such as cave-ins and silicosis, and the fear of mine closures, and eventually grew to a nationwide scale. In addition to passing on skills, the organization also provided relief for the injured and ill, and helped the unemployed find employment. When miners were moving, the code of honor was maintained, with miners sharing lodging and food with each other. It disappeared after World War II. → Related topics: Boss/Subordinate Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
