A family of hereditary Noh mask makers from the early modern period. They dominated Noh mask production from the end of the Muromachi period through the Edo period, and are also known as the Deme Honke family. The founder was Sankobo's nephew Jirozaemon Mitsuteru, who is said to have been active around the Tenbun era (1532-55), and the wooden statue of Saint Shinsho (1581) at Saikyo-ji Temple in Shiga Prefecture is thought to be his work. The second head Jirozaemon Norimitsu and the third head Gensuke Hidemitsu (Furu-Gensuke) lived in Echizen Fuchu (present-day Takefu City, Fukui Prefecture), but the fourth head Genkyu Mitsunaga (Furu-Genkyu) moved to Kyoto, and later settled in Edo until the tenth head, Mitsumori.
