Levantine art

Japanese: レバント美術 - レバントびじゅつ（英語表記）Levant art

This refers to Mesolithic rock shelter paintings distributed widely in the Levant region of eastern Spain. They are spread across the provinces of Lleida, Tarragona, Teruel, Castellón, Cuenca, Valencia, Albacete, Murcia, Jaén, and Almeria, and about 40 sites have been found. Most of the murals are painted in monochrome red or black, and carvings are very scarce. The figures are generally small, with few animal figures exceeding 75 cm in size and few human figures exceeding 30 cm in size, with an average size of around 10 cm.

スペイン東部のレバント地方に広く分布する，中石器時代の岩陰壁画をいう。それらはレリダ，タラゴナ，テルエル，カステリョン，クエンカ，バレンシア，アルバセテ，ムルシア，ハエン，アルメリアの諸地方に広がっており，約40の遺跡が見いだされる。　壁画のほとんどは，赤または黒の単色で描かれた彩画で，刻画はきわめて乏しい。形象は概して小さく，動物像では75cm，人物像では30cmを超えるものは少なく，平均の大きさは10cm前後である。
