A cape that forms the northernmost tip of the Taimyr Peninsula in central Russia, it is the northernmost continental point on Earth. It is located at 77°43′ north latitude and 104°18′ east longitude. It belongs to the Taimyr Autonomous Region. An Arctic Ocean meteorological and hydrological observatory was built there in 1932 and observations have been ongoing ever since. The cape was named in honor of Semyon Ivanovich Chelyuskin, who participated in the Great Northern Expedition and first set foot on the cape in 1742.
