A branch of the Parthians ruled over northwestern India, Afghanistan, and eastern Iran from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD. They are known as the Indo-Parthians, and are referred to as the Pahlava in Indian classics. The history of this people has been studied using a few references in literature, as well as coins and inscriptions, but much remains unknown.
