This surgery is intended for people with hermaphroditism, which is a physical sexual abnormality, and people with a psychological sexual abnormality who wish to change their gender (transsexuals). There are two types of hermaphroditism: true hermaphroditism and pseudohermaphroditism. In the former, surgery is performed to remove the testicles or ovaries and form a vulva.
