Rock fishing - Isozuri

This is fishing done on rocky coasts and reefs. It is contrasted with casting fishing on sandy beaches, but there are many similarities in terms of technique. Generally, it is divided into big game fishing and small and medium-sized fish fishing. Big game fishing is centered on stone bream, and targets fish such as dogtooth tuna and black jack in the Ogasawara Islands and the Ryukyu Islands. Striped jack and yellowtail amberjack also fall into this category. It excels in the strength of the pull, the way it runs after being hooked, and the weight of the fish. Small and medium-sized fish fishing includes black porgy, grouper, black porgy, sea bitterling, halfbeak, and rockfish. The fishing spot varies depending on the target fish, and the rod, tackle, and bait also vary.

岩の多い海岸や岩礁で釣る釣り。砂浜での投げ釣りに対比されるが、技術的には共通の部分が多い。一般的に大物釣りと中小物釣りに分けられる。大物釣りはイシダイを筆頭に、小笠原(おがさわら)諸島や南西諸島でのイソマグロ、クロヒラアジを対象魚とする。シマアジ、ヒラマサ釣りもこれに入る。引きの強さ、鉤(はり)にかかってからの疾走ぶり、魚の重量において優れている。中小物釣りはメジナ、ブダイ、クロダイ、ウミタナゴ、サヨリ、アイナメなど。対象魚に応じて釣り場が異なり、竿(さお)や仕掛け、餌(えさ)なども違ってくる。
