Tannu-ola [Mountain Range] (English spelling)
A mountain range in the northwest of the Mongolian Plateau. It straddles the Russian Federation's Republic of Tuva and Mongolia. It is divided into the Eastern Tannu-Aura Range and the Western Tannu-Aura Range, and is 300 km long. The average altitude is 2,400 m, and the highest peak is 3,061 m. A tributary of the Yenisei River flows out from the northern slope, and the northern slope is taiga, while the southern slope is mountainous steppe. It is inhabited by the Tuvan people, as well as Mongolians. [Yoshida Junichi]
