Chima - Chima

Japanese:
Chima - Chima

A skirt worn by women in Korean traditional clothing. It is a long wrap skirt that reaches from the chest to the ankles and is worn in combination with a short jacket called a chogori. It is made by sewing together a piece of fabric about 1.5 times the width of the chima, attaching a string to the top, pleating it, and sewing it down. It is common to wear a sokchima (inner skirt) or a tansokotsu (single-layered undergarment) similar to hakama (Japanese trousers) underneath as underwear. Cotton, white silk, and patterned fabrics such as donsu are used for the fabric, and it was mostly plain, but in recent years, with the introduction of Western clothing techniques, various changes in colors and patterns have appeared.
