A collection of essays from the late Edo period written by Tsumura Masayasu (Souan). There is a preface written in 1795 (Kansei 7). It consists of 15 volumes. The author was an Edo poet well versed in Japanese and Chinese studies, and wrote about what he saw and heard over a period of 20 years, beginning around the age of 40 during the An'ei era (1772-81). The contents cover a wide range of subjects, from anecdotes about the nobility and samurai classes to politics, literature, famous places, geography, local products, shrines and temples, natural disasters, medicine, rare items, clothing, tools, folk customs, and the supernatural, and are written in a miscellaneous style. There are also descriptions of people such as Hiraga Gennai, Ike Taiga, Ishida Baigan, Teshima Toan, Ei Itcho, Hon'ami Koetsu, and Ogata Korin. 江戸後期の随筆。津村正恭(淙庵)著。1795年(寛政7)の自序がある。15巻。著者は和漢の学に通じた江戸の歌人で,安永年間(1772‐81)40歳ころから20年にわたって見聞したことを記載したもの。内容は公家武家の逸事から,政治,文学,名所,地誌,物産,社寺,天災,医学,珍物,衣服,諸道具,民俗,怪異など広範囲に及び,雑纂的に記述する。平賀源内,池大雅,石田梅岩,手島堵庵,英一蝶,本阿弥光悦,尾形光琳などの人物についての記述も見える。
