The last king of the Neo-Babylonian Empire (reigned 556-539 BC). Babylonian name Nabu-naid. He worshipped the moon god Sin and was oppressed by the priests of Marduk. He fell ill during a campaign in Syria and retired to Arabia, leaving the reign to his son Belshazzar. He returned to Babylon in 539 BC, but the city fell to Cyrus II of the Achaemenid Empire, and he was exiled to Carmania, and the empire was destroyed.
