Multi-headed stone axe - Tatsusekifu

Japanese:
Multi-headed stone axe - Tatsusekifu

A type of polished stone axe used for club heads and mace heads. If the blade is attached to the circumference of the disk and the handle is inserted into the handle hole in the center, it is a ring-shaped stone axe, and if it has three or more protrusions and a blade on each end, it is a multi-headed stone axe. In Korea, stone tools with 8, 10, or 18 radial protrusions, such as those found in the plain pottery of North Hamgyong Province and Hwanghae Province on the Korean Peninsula, and which have sharpened protrusions without blades, are called star-shaped stone tools. In Japan, examples of multi-headed stone axe are known from eastern Japan in the late Jomon period and the beginning of the Yayoi period in Aichi Prefecture. In addition, eight-headed star-shaped stone tools have been found in association with middle Yayoi pottery at the Yasunagata Site No. 14 dwelling site in Tosu City, Saga Prefecture, and are thought to be related to the plain pottery culture of the Korean Peninsula.
