Mysis relicta (English spelling)

...Another term for species that reflect previous environmental conditions despite environmental changes is environmental or ecological relict. Mysis relicta , which lives in lakes in northern Europe, is known to have been originally marine, but survived by adapting to freshwater environments after the lakes were cut off from the sea. Similarly, species that were widespread in the cold climate of the Ice Age but have since been reduced to circumpolar and alpine regions due to global warming are sometimes called climatic or glacial relict.
