Kazue Keien - Keien Isshi

This is a self-selected collection of poems by Kagawa Kageki (pen name Keien). It was published in 1830 (Bunsei 13). The title is taken from "Nao Keirin Isshi Konzan Hengyoku no Gotoshi" (Still a piece of jewel from Kuriyama, Kunshan Mountain) in the "Shinshu". It contains a total of 983 poems, classified as miscellaneous (choka, sendo ka, haiku) poems that touch upon spring, summer, autumn, winter, love, miscellaneous matters, and other topics. It is characterized by a fresh and elegant style of poetry based on tune, as seen in the poem "The yamabuki flowers that fall on the rapids of the Kiyotaki River as we lower our rafts" (The Yamabuki flowers that flow). "Keien Isshi Shui" contains a total of 612 poems and was published in 1849 (Kaei 2).

香川景樹(かげき)(号、桂園)の自撰(じせん)家集。1830年(文政13)刊行。書名は『晋書(しんじょ)』の「猶桂林一枝崑山片玉(なおけいりんいっしこんざんへんぎょくのごとし)」からとられた。春・夏・秋・冬・恋・雑・事につき時に触れたる・雑体(長歌・旋頭歌(せどうか)・俳諧(はいかい)歌)に部類し、計983首が収められている。「筏(いかだ)おろす清滝川のたきつ瀬にちりて流るゝ山吹のはな」にみられるように、調(しらべ)を基調とする清新優雅な歌風が特色である。また、『桂園一枝拾遺』は計612首を収め、1849年(嘉永2)に刊行された。
