Ganjiang and Moye - Kansho Bakuya

…The story of “Casting a Sword” from Lu Xun’s “New Stories” is known as an extraordinary tale of revenge in which Mei Jianzhu (Mikeng Jiaqi) avenges his father, a master swordsmith, who died tragically, with the help of a mysterious dark man, using the sword that was left behind and the head he had cut off. This short piece is based on the legend of the Three Kings’ Tomb, which appears in “Biographies of the Warriors,” “Biographies of the Filial Son,” “Searching for the Gods,” and other works, and is related to the couple Gan Jiang and Mo Ye and their son Mei Jianzhu (Chi). It is also inserted in the medieval Japanese “Taiheiki” (volume 13), and is familiar to both of us, but the original legend of Gan Jiang and Mo Ye is found in the “Spring and Autumn Annals of Wu Yue.” …
