Born: June 19, 1896, Cambridge [Died] December 20, 1974. British journalist and politician. He participated in the founding of the Communist Party of Britain in 1920, and played an active role as a leader, serving as a member of the party's Politburo from 1922 to 1965, and as its vice-chairman from 1943 to 1965. In 1921, he launched the Labour Monthly. As his father was Indian, he had a great influence on Indian students studying in Britain, and also had a huge influence on the Communist Party of India.
