Certificate of rank - Isshogaki

Japanese:
Certificate of rank - Isshogaki
A term used in court etiquette and paleography. In the Ritsuryo system, when an official signs a document, the act of writing the rank (hereafter referred to as rank), official position (hereafter referred to as official), family name, and given name according to a set format, or the act itself. The Ritsuryo official rank system was in place for nearly 1,200 years until 1869 (Meiji 2), so knowledge was necessary for those appointed to the position. However, since the ritsuryo system only had basic provisions, examples were collected and studied as part of court etiquette from an early stage, and the results were compiled in works such as Shuugai Sho, and in the mid-Edo period, Tsuboi Yoshitomo wrote Ishoshiki Shikou and Isho Nangi Shikou.
