Yomogita [village] - Yomogita

Japanese: 蓬田[村] - よもぎた

A village in Higashitsugaru District, northwest of Aomori Prefecture. Population 3,786 (1995). It is located on the east coast of the Tsugaru Peninsula, facing Mutsu Bay, and the west is on the eastern slope of the Tsugaru Mountains, which form the backbone of the peninsula. It borders Aomori City to the south, and National Route 280 (formerly the Sendai-Matsumae Road) and the JR Tsugaru Line run along the coast, with most of the settlements developing along the national route. Rice fields are cultivated in the lower reaches of the Yomota River and Hirose River, making it the grain-producing region of the Kamiiso region (east coast of the Tsugaru Peninsula), but it is often hit by cold damage due to the cold and humid easterly winds called "Yamase" in summer.

青森県北西部，東津軽郡の村。人口3786(1995)。津軽半島東岸，陸奥湾に面し，西部は半島の脊梁をなす津軽山地の東斜面にあたる。南は青森市に接し，海岸に沿って国道280号線(旧仙台･松前道)とJR津軽線が通じ，集落の大部分は国道沿いに発達する。蓬田川，広瀬川の下流域には水田が開け，上磯地方(津軽半島東岸)の穀倉地帯となっているが，〈やませ〉と呼ばれる夏の冷湿な偏東風のため冷害に襲われることが多い。
