Tachibana Bay

Japanese: 橘湾 - たちばなわん

An arc-shaped bay in the southeastern part of Nagasaki Prefecture, surrounded by the Nagasaki Peninsula and the Shimabara Peninsula. It is also called Chijiwa Bay. The Nagasaki Peninsula side belongs to Nomo Peninsula Prefectural Natural Park, and part of the Shimabara Peninsula side belongs to Shimabara Peninsula Prefectural Natural Park. The bay area forms an independent ecosystem due to the relationship with the tides, and there are fishing grounds suitable for small-scale bottom trawl fishing, small-scale hauling net fishing, gill net fishing, and single-line fishing. The main fishing ports are Futtsu in the southwest of Unzen City and Aba in the eastern part of Nagasaki City. In 1978, it began to be used as an oil storage base, and later a national stockpile was established by tanker. There is a regular route from Aba Port to Amakusa. The sand dune coast in Chijiwa on the west coast of the Shimabara Peninsula is a popular swimming beach.

Tachibana Bay

A bay facing the Kii Channel in eastern Tokushima Prefecture. It is a ria coastline, and the bay is dotted with small islands, including Kokatsu Island, Takashima Island, Nonojima Island, and Benten Island, which belong to Anan City, and are known as Awa Matsushima. Benten Island has a tropical plant community that is a natural monument. There are many campsites in the bay, and tourism development is progressing. The bay belongs to the Muroto-Anan Coast Quasi-National Park. In 1995, reclamation began around Kokatsu Island to construct the Tachibana Bay Power Plant, one of the largest thermal power plants in Japan.

長崎県南東部，長崎半島と島原半島とにいだかれた弧状の湾。千々石湾ともいう。長崎半島側は野母半島県立自然公園，島原半島側の一部は島原半島県立自然公園に属する。湾域は潮流の関係から一つの独立した生態系をなし，小型底引網漁，小型揚繰網漁，刺網漁，一本釣りに適した漁場がある。雲仙市南西部の富津，長崎市東部の網場 (あば) が主要な漁港。 1978年から石油貯蔵基地として利用されるようになり，その後タンカーによる国家備蓄がはかられた。網場港からは天草へ定期航路がある。島原半島西岸の千々石にある砂丘海岸は海水浴場としてにぎわう。

橘湾

徳島県東部，紀伊水道に面する湾。リアス海岸で，湾内には阿南市に属する小勝島，高島，野々島，弁天島などの小島が点在し，阿波松島と呼ばれる。弁天島には天然記念物の熱帯性植物群落がある。湾内にはキャンプ場も多く，観光開発が進み，室戸阿南海岸国定公園に属する。 1995年日本最大級の火力発電所である橘湾発電所建設のため小勝島周辺の埋立てが始った。
