Takeda Nariaki
1827-1880 A military scholar from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period.
Born on September 15, 1827. He studied Western studies and military science under Ogata Koan and Sakuma Shozan. He served the shogunate, was involved in the construction of Goryokaku in Hakodate, and taught Western studies, and later became a professor at Kaiseisho and head of artillery. After the Meiji Restoration, he joined the Ministry of War and served as a professor at the military academy and head of the Army Cadet School. He became an army colonel. He died on January 28, 1880, at the age of 54. He was from Iyo (Ehime Prefecture). He was commonly known as Hisaburo. His pen name was Taketo. His works include "Miura Kenbunshi" and "Kokuryu-ji Kiji."

文政10年9月15日生まれ。緒方洪庵,佐久間象山(しょうざん)らに蘭学や兵学をまなぶ。幕府に出仕して箱館で五稜郭(ごりょうかく)の築城や洋学の教授にあたり,のち開成所教授,砲兵頭となる。維新後は兵部省にはいり,士官学校教授,陸軍幼年学校長などを歴任。陸軍大佐。明治13年1月28日死去。54歳。伊予(いよ)(愛媛県)出身。通称は斐三郎。号は竹塘。著作に「三浦見聞志」「黒竜江記事」など。
