Takuma Eiga

Japanese: 宅磨栄賀 - たくまえいが

He was a Buddhist sculptor of the Takuma school in the early Muromachi period. Among the Takuma school, which was actively incorporating new styles of Song painting, he gradually fused Japanese and Chinese and showed a fixed style. The only work that clearly indicates his era is "Portrait of Kakinomoto no Hitomaro" (Tokiwayama Bunko), written in 1395 by Tofukuji Seikai Reiken. Other extant works include "Portrait of Acala and Two Children" (Seikado Bunko) and "Sixteen Arhats" (Chomyo-ji).

室町時代初期の宅磨派の絵仏師。新様の宋画様式の摂取に積極的であった宅磨派のなかで，次第に和漢融合し定型的な作風を示す。東福寺性海霊見が応永2 (1395) 年に著賛した『柿本人麻呂像』 (常盤山文庫) が時代の明徴な唯一の作品。ほかに『不動明王二童子像』 (静嘉堂文庫) ，『十六羅漢像』 (頂妙寺) などが現存する。
