Also known as quick habit formation. Unlike drug tolerance, in which the effects of a drug gradually weaken when it is used chronically, quick habit formation refers to the extremely rapid acquisition of resistance by the body. This is the phenomenon in which the effects of a drug rapidly weaken when it is administered repeatedly at short intervals of 5 to 15 minutes. For example, the blood pressure-raising effect of ephedrine disappears after repeated administration several times. 速成習慣ともいう。薬物を慢性的に連用した際に,その効果がしだいに減弱する薬物耐性とは異なり,生体がきわめて速やかに抵抗性を獲得することをいう。薬物を5~15分間の短時間間隔で反復投与した際に,その効果が急速に弱まる現象で,たとえばエフェドリンの血圧上昇作用は投与を数回繰り返すことによって消失する。同様の現象はチラミン,ヒスタミンなどでもみられる。【金戸 洋】
