Also known as Seymouria. A primitive amphibian from the Early Permian Period. Body length was about 60 cm. The skull and teeth are similar to those of labyrinthodont amphibians, but the vertebrae and limb bones are similar to those of reptiles, making it an intermediate animal between the two. シームリアとも。ペルム紀前期の原始的な両生類。体長約60cm。頭骨や歯の特徴は,両生類の迷歯類と共通的だが,脊椎・肢骨など爬虫(はちゅう)類の特徴を備え,両者の中間的動物と考えられる。化石は米国のテキサス州シーモアの北方から発見された。
