Poet. Born in Ehime Prefecture. Dropped out of Yawatahama Commercial School just before graduating. Initially influenced by Kojiro Fukushi, he was later deeply impressed by the Dadaist Manifesto introduced in the Yorozu Choho newspaper, and in 1923 (Taisho 12) published a collection of poems, Poems of the Dadaist Shinkichi, edited by Jun Tsuji, which had a strong impact on the poetry world. His subsequent collections of poems include Selected Poems of Shinkichi (1936), Kirishima (1942), and Torso (1956), among others, and his works gradually became deeply influenced by Buddhist and oriental ideas. He also wrote many other works related to Buddhism, including the novels "Dada" (1924), "Madman" (1936), "The Tale of Dagabajijingiji" (1965), art essay collections "Sparrow" vols. 1-10 (1961-70), and "Zen-zai zuihitsu" (1958). He received the Art Encouragement Prize for "Takahashi Shinkichi Complete Poetry Collection" (1972).
