Tatsunosuke Takasaki

Businessman and politician. Born in Osaka Prefecture. Graduated from the Fisheries Training School. Founded Toyo Seikan in 1917 (Taisho 6). President of Manchuria Heavy Industries in 1942 (Showa 17). First president of Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. in 1952. Director-General of the Economic Planning Agency in the Cabinet of Ichiro Hatoyama in 1954. Minister of International Trade and Industry in the second Cabinet of Nobusuke Kishi in 1958. Member of the House of Representatives (Democratic Party) in 1955, and subsequently elected four times in a row. In the same year, he attended the Asia-Africa Conference as a government representative, and was active in economic diplomacy, including Japan-Soviet fisheries negotiations. In November 1962, he signed the Japan-China Comprehensive Trade Agreement with Liao Chengzhi from the Chinese side. For this reason, Japan-China trade during this period was called LT Trade, taking the initials of Liao and Takasaki.

実業家、政治家。大阪府生まれ。水産講習所卒業。1917年(大正6)東洋製缶を設立。1942年(昭和17)満州重工業総裁。1952年電源開発初代総裁。1954年鳩山一郎(はとやまいちろう)内閣経済企画庁長官。1958年第二次岸信介(きしのぶすけ)内閣通産相。1955年衆議院議員(民主党)、以後連続4回当選。同年アジア・アフリカ会議に政府代表として出席したほか、日ソ漁業交渉など経済外交で活躍。1962年11月の日中総合貿易協定で、中国側の廖承志(りょうしょうし)とともに調印にあたった。そのため、この時期の日中貿易は廖と高碕のイニシャルをとり、LT貿易とよばれた。
