…It has also been called acute epileptic psychosis, but the WHO Glossary of Epilepsy states that there is no clear causal relationship between epilepsy and seizures, and that it is better to call it acute psychosis (psychotic episode) in epilepsy. There are classifications of epilepsy by H. Landolt (1964), J. H. Bruens (1973), and G. K. Köhler (1980), but there is no definitive classification yet. In the Landolt classification (table), "postictal stupor" refers to a state of stupor that continues for several weeks after one or two grand mal seizures, while "organic stupor" refers mainly to a state of stupor caused by overdosing on antiepileptic drugs or cerebral edema, and is accompanied by symptoms of poisoning such as ataxia, nystagmus, and dysarthria caused by antiepileptic drugs, and a marked increase in slow waves in the EEG.

…急性癲癇精神病とも称されたが，WHOの癲癇用語集は，挿間症と癲癇発作との間には必ずしも一義的な因果関係がないとし，癲癇における急性精神病(挿間症)acute psychosis (psychotic episode) in epilepsyとするほうが望ましいとした。挿間症にはランドルトH.Landolt(1964)，ブリュンズJ.H.Bruens(1973)，ケーラーG.K.Köhler(1980)などの分類があるが，まだ決定的な分類はない。　ランドルトの分類(表)で〈発作後朦朧状態〉とは，大発作が1,2回起きたのち，数週間朦朧状態が続くものであるが，〈器質因性朦朧状態〉とはおもに抗癲癇薬の過剰投与や脳浮腫による朦朧状態などを示し，抗癲癇薬による運動失調や眼振，構音障害などの中毒症状を伴い，脳波には徐波化の著しい増加をみる。…
