A type of partial differential equation. The basic form of an elliptic equation is written as Δμ=- f (Δ=∂ 2 /∂ x 1 2 +……+∂ 2 /∂ x n 2 )……(1). Here, u is an unknown function and f is a known function. Equation (1) is also called Poisson's equation. Let us write r ( x , y ) as the distance between two points x and y in an n - dimensional space Rn , and ωn as the surface area of a sphere of radius 1 in Rn (for example, ω3 =4π, ω4 = 4π2 , ω5 =4/ 3π2 ,……), and define ω(x) as follows. If the function f ( x ) on the right-hand side of (1) has a continuous first-order partial derivative and is identically 0 outside a bounded domain D , then the function is a solution to (1).
