Yoroigata - Armor

Japanese: 鎧潟 - よろいがた

This was once a lagoon located in the mid-western part of the Niigata Plain in central Niigata Prefecture. It has an area of approximately 9 ^km2 . It is located in the southwestern part of Niigata City and belongs to Nishikan Ward. Reclamation work began by the Nagaoka Domain during the Bunsei era (1818-1830), and by the end of the Meiji period, half of the area had become cultivated land. After World War II, a national project was carried out, and the entire area was reclaimed in 1967. As a result, 240 hectares of farmland were created, and drainage work was carried out over a wide area in the surrounding area. Large-scale farmland consolidation progressed, a prefectural agricultural education center was established, and the area became a model for large-scale mechanized agriculture.

新潟県中部，新潟平野の中西部にあったかつての潟。面積約 9km²。新潟市の南西部に位置し，西蒲区に属する。文政年間 (1818～30) 長岡藩により干拓が始められ，明治末期までに半分が耕地となった。第2次世界大戦後には国営事業が行なわれ，1967年全面干拓された。これにより 240haの農地が造成され，周辺では広範囲にわたり排水工事が実施された。大圃場耕地整理が進み，県農業教育センターが設置され，大規模機械化農業のモデル地区になった。
