Asakura Norikage

A member of the Asakura clan, a feudal lord in the Sengoku period of Echizen. He was the eighth son of the first lord, Takakage. His Buddhist name was Soteki. In 1503 (Bunki 3), he became Tsuruga County governor in place of Kagetoyo, a member of his clan who had plotted a rebellion, and his descendants continued in this position thereafter. As well as ruling the county as Tsuruga County governor, he also fought against the Ikko Ikki in Kaga as a military leader for successive generations of the Asakura clan. According to the Asakura Soteki Waki, a compilation of his stories, from the age of 18 to 79, he marched into neighboring countries 12 times. He died of illness while facing off against the Ikko Ikki in Kaga.

越前の戦国大名朝倉氏の一族。初代孝景(たかかげ)の八男。入道名宗滴(そうてき)。1503年（文亀3）に叛乱を企てた一族の景豊(かげとよ)に替わって敦賀(つるが)郡司となり、以後も子孫がこの職を継いだ。敦賀(つるが)郡司として郡内を支配するとともに、代々の朝倉氏の軍事指導者として加賀の一向一揆などと戦った。彼が語ったことをまとめた『朝倉宗滴話記』によれば、18歳から79歳になるまで、隣国に出陣すること12度に及んだという。加賀一向一揆との対陣中に病を得て没した。
