Ojirinuma Swamp

Japanese: 大尻沼 - おおじりぬま

A swamp located at the northern foot of Mt. Shirane (Nikko Shirane) in northeastern Gunma Prefecture. It is a dammed lake formed by Mt. Shirane, and continues downstream from Suganuma and Marunuma. The lake surface is 1,400m above sea level. It has a circumference of about 2km and an area of about ^0.45km2 . The lake basin is divided into two parts, east and west, and is also called Hyotan Numa. The deepest part is 26.8m in the west, and hot springs well up from the bottom of the eastern lake, and the freezing period is short. It receives water from Marunuma to the east and flows out from the southwest end as the Ojiri River. It belongs to Nikko National Park.

群馬県北東部，白根山 (日光白根) の北麓にある沼。白根山による堰止湖で，菅沼，丸沼の下流に続く。湖面標高 1400m。周囲約 2km。面積約 0.45km²。湖盆は東西2つの部分から成り，瓢箪 (ひょうたん) 沼ともいう。最深部は西部の 26.8mで，東部の湖底から温泉が湧出し，結氷期間は短い。東の丸沼からの水を受け，南西端から大尻川となって流出する。日光国立公園に属する。
