Lake Onuma

Japanese: 大沼 - おおぬま

A dammed lake in Nanae Town on the Oshima Peninsula in southwest Hokkaido. It has an area of 5.3 ^km2 and a circumference of 21 km. Its maximum depth is 13.6 m, its water surface is 129 m above sea level, and its maximum transparency is 2.5 m. It is a eutrophic lake. Mudflows from Mt. Komagatake dammed the Orido River on the southern foot of the lake, forming Lake Onuma, Lake Konuma, and Lake Junsai. On the lake shore, there is a mountain where part of the mountain flowed out during the eruption of Mt. Komagatake, creating 126 small islands in the lake. It forms an isthmus with Lake Konuma to the southwest, and the JR Hakodate Main Line runs through it. The lake water is yellowish in color, and freezes over from December to March. Carp, crucian carp, and smelt are widely caught, and lotus plants have also been transplanted. There are hot springs and a ski resort on the eastern shore, and it is a popular tourist destination. It is included in the Onuma Quasi-National Park. In 2012, 12.36 ^km2 of the area, including Lake Konuma and Lake Junsai, was registered under the Ramsar Convention.

Onuma

A crater lake on Mount Akagi in the north of Maebashi City in the central-eastern part of Gunma Prefecture. It is 1,320 meters above sea level, has a circumference of 4.2 km, and an area of about 0.8 ^km2 . It is half-moon shaped, with a maximum depth of 16.5 m. It is surrounded by the outer rim of the lake, Mount Kurobi, and the central crater cone, Mount Jizo, and offers beautiful views. There are many tourist facilities on the lake shore, with Daido at the center. In the winter, when it freezes over, it is a popular spot for skating and smelt fishing.

Lake Onuma

Also known as Ukishima Swamp. A shallow swamp on the hills on the west side of the Yamagata Basin in central Yamagata Prefecture. Located in the northern part of Asahi Town, there are about 50 floating islands of various sizes on the surface of the swamp, and it has been designated as a scenic spot. Ukishima Inari Shrine is located on the shore of the swamp, and it was one of the sacred places for ascetics of the Dewa Sanzan mountains.

北海道南西部，渡島半島の七飯町にある堰止湖。面積 5.3km²，周囲 21km。最大水深 13.6m，水面標高 129m，最大透明度 2.5m。富栄養湖。駒ヶ岳の泥流が南麓の折戸川をせき止めて大沼，小沼，蓴菜沼をつくった。湖岸には駒ヶ岳噴火の際，山体の一部が流れ出た流れ山があり，沼のなかには 126の小島をつくる。南西の小沼とは地峡部をなし，JR函館本線が通る。湖水の色は黄色を帯び，12月から 3月までは結氷する。コイ，フナ，ワカサギなどの漁獲が多く，ハスも移植された。東岸には温泉やスキー場があり，観光客も多い。大沼国定公園に含まれる。2012年，小沼，蓴菜沼を含む 12.36km²がラムサール条約に登録された。

群馬県中東部，前橋市の北部にある赤城山の火口原湖。標高 1320m。周囲 4.2km。面積約 0.8km²。半月形で最大水深 16.5m。外輪山の黒檜山（くろびさん）や中央火口丘の地蔵岳に囲まれて景色がよい。湖岸には観光施設が多く，大洞（だいどう）はその中心。結氷する冬季には，スケートとワカサギ釣りでにぎわう。
